Dr. Nefarious on Music Journalism:

Band interviews for the most part blow. They're no fun to do, and it's usually the same shit over and over again. Just how much do you really need to know about Mudhoney? Aren't Jim Thirlwell's influences obvious enough? Record reviews become equally unpleasant to do. Yeah, all the free music is nice, but 99% of it blows and most of the CD shops around here are already overstocked with this crap, so it's impossible to unload it. At first, it's fun to slam all the bad stuff, but you quickly find yourself running out of new and interesting ways to say: "This album totally sucks". Fact is, just about all the stuff Cuervo and I liked, we paid for ourselves, and would have bought anyway. So, with the exception of Six Feet Under (which is not reviews, so much as it is picks), our music coverage days are pretty much over. Besides, this is the internet, you can always seek out newsgroups or fan pages. Consult Stinky Links for some of our favorite finds, as well as a couple cool e-zines that do cover music stuff.
