Forbidden Gallery & Emporium
Forbidden Gallery is opened on March 18th 2000 as the first gallery
in Dallas dedicated to an ever-growing group of underground/lowbrow
artists across America. With a BA in Painting and Sculpture from the
University of North Texas, Jason Cohen has been involved in creating
and promoting the arts for over 10 years. I have selected a specific
and talented group of artist whose work represents an intense energy
and emotion along with amazing detail and craftsmanship. These artists
are represented by exclusive galleries and have a large following
on the east and west coasts. By working directly with the artist and
owners of galleries across the country, I have amassed an important
group of such artists. Most of the artist have never show in the south
before yet already have a great following of fans and collectors.
Their works appeal to both younger and the more established collectors.
Only the Surrealists and Dadaists have paralleled their focussed and
extreme visions in the past.
The gallery for the first year will concentrate on group shows; this
will help introduce the many talented artists to the Dallas scene.
We also have a small retail selection of art books, magazines and
lower priced art objects (prints, sculptures ect…) available.
