The Amok Fifth Dispatch - Sourcebook of the extremes of information
edited by Stuart Swezey SB $19.95
Amok books was the grandpappy of Forbidden Books - Amok was the first to put a ton of  subversive books into one mail order source for your pleasure.  I remember getting a copy of the first dispatch which was this little flimsy mag filled with amazing books I just had to get my hands on.  Ton's of cool medical books, esoteric, erotica, political and more... This was one of the major influences for starting Forbidden - I remember making a pilgrimage to the Amok bookstore LA back in 1988 and just being amazed - it was like my Mecca!  The only problem with the mail order was when you went to order this stuff most of it was out of stock or out of print (they had to keep that store stocked). But it made a nice source book - This is what it has become now - only the flimsy mag is yellow pages size!  This beautiful book has it all - over 500 pages of books reviews and tons of photos. A must for all who seek out the extremes in this info crazy age! - JC

The Amok Catalog is required reading for all information junkies, mutants,
lunatics, and anybody else interested in exploring worlds and ideas never seen. . .
A side effect of reading the Amok catalog is that it could make you reconsider the
very nature of imagination, freedom, and possibility."-San Francisco Chronicle

"Amok is the research guide to all the sordid thoughts you'd never discuss at
lunch. . . the index of all that we hold obscure, perverse, and dear."-Esquire

How did all these very disposable pieces of punk art survive?  With the help of people all over the country as crazy as me who kept every piece of information they came accross - shit I have hundreds of theses things stored away.
